A New York Times article highlights a recent study that suggests that assisted reproductive techniques, like in vitro fertilization, which require doctors and technicians to work with eggs and sperm outside the body, may result in a higher frequency of birth defects than natural conception. Dr. Jamie Grifo says, “The results are concerning, but with this small a sample of patients, a bigger study would need to be done."
