Dr. Jamie Grifo Featured in Finding Mr. Right. Twice. - an article on Egg Freezing
February 03, 2011
The January/February 2011 issue of NYU Langone Medical Center's News & Views features an article with Jamie Grifo, MD, PhD, chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and professor of obstetrics and gynecology on the use of oocyte preservation (egg freezing) to help women preserve their fertility.
The article follows the story of a patient who was able to have a child without the need for fertility treatment for her first pregnancy and then found herself with so-called secondary infertility - the inability to get pregnant a second time. In the first reported instance of its kind, the patient used her own frozen eggs to overcome her secondary infertility. Dr. Grifo and his colleague Nicole Noyes, MD, professor of obstetrics and gynecology and co-director of the Fertility Center's Egg Freezing Program, described the process in the journal Fertility and Sterility.
