Heidi Sanders was diagnosed with a rare form of cervical cancer in 2008, at the age of 28. Knowing she would be undergoing a radical hysterectomy, she had her fertilized eggs frozen prior to her operation.

In June of 2010, Heidi's sister became her surrogate and earlier this month Heidi became a mother. She gives credit to their fertility doctor at New York University Fertility Center, Dr. Nicole Noyes, for going "above and beyond" in caring for both sisters during the pregnancy; to Jeremy, now her husband; and to her sister's husband, Charles, for being "rocks" throughout the process.
